Workplace expectations are changing.

From April 2026, UK employers with 250 or more employees can voluntarily publish equality action plans alongside their gender pay gap information. The recommended actions include support for employees experiencing perimenopause and menopause. Mandatory publication is expected from 2027, subject to the final regulations and confirmed timetable.

A written policy may be useful, but employees feel the difference only when managers understand it and practical support is accessible.

Not every UK employer is currently required to have a standalone menopause policy. This service supports workplace readiness and implementation and does not replace employment-law advice.

Awareness alone does not prepare a workplace.

A webinar or policy can open the conversation. It cannot, by itself, tell a manager what to say, help an employee request an appropriate adjustment or create a safe route to specialist support.

  • Often exists: A policy document

Still needed: A practical route for using it

  • Often exists: An annual awareness event

Still needed: Consistent understanding throughout the year

  • Often exists: General wellbeing information

    Still needed: Accurate menopause-specific education

  • Often exists: Good intentions

Still needed: Manager confidence, boundaries and escalation routes

The 3R workplace framework

A structured way to understand what is missing, build the right support and keep it going beyond a single awareness day.

  1. Reset

Understand the workforce need and current provision.

Leadership briefing, needs assessment, employee listening and a review of existing support.

  2. Rebalance

Build knowledge, confidence and practical pathways.

Manager training, employee education, adjustment guidance and signposting.

  3. Reclaim

Embed support and check whether it is working.

Follow-up sessions, champion development, specialist education and outcome reporting.

From the Manager Ready Programme

Managers do not need every answer. They need a safe conversation and a clear next step.

  1. Step 1

    Open

Choose privacy. Explain why you want to talk. Invite the employee's view.

  2. Step 2

    Listen

Ask what is affecting work and what has helped. Avoid interruptions and assumptions.

  3. Step 3

    Explore

Consider practical options, operational needs and any formal process.

  4. Step 4

    Agree

Record the actions, who owns them and when you will review progress.

  5. Step 5

    Review

Check whether support is working. Adjust or escalate when needed.

A manager and an employee in a private one-to-one conversation

Language that keeps the door open

  • What part of the working day is hardest at present?
  • What support would make the biggest practical difference?
  • Let us agree what happens next and when we will review it.

Wording that shuts it

  • You are at that age.
  • Is this your hormones?
  • Everyone goes through it.

Managers signpost. Clinicians diagnose and treat. The training makes that boundary practical, with scenarios on performance, flexibility requests and confidentiality.

From first conversation to practical support

  1. Consult

A 30-minute conversation about your workforce, priorities and existing provision.

  2. Design

A tailored proposal covering scope, delivery, resources and evaluation.

  3. Deliver

Employee education, manager training and practical implementation support.

  4. Review

Participation, confidence and next actions, reported without identifying anyone's health information.

Frequently asked questions

Does every UK employer now need a menopause policy?

No. From April 2026, employers with 250 or more employees can voluntarily publish equality action plans that include menopause support. Mandatory publication is expected from 2027, subject to final regulations. Employers of any size can choose to improve support now.

Do you provide employment-law advice?

Mamichie Healthcare provides clinical education, workplace training and implementation support. Any formal employment-law opinion or final legal review should be provided by a suitably qualified adviser.

Can you review our menopause policy or action plan?

We can review clinical accuracy, practical usability and alignment with the agreed programme. Employment-law advice and final legal approval remain with your organisation's qualified advisers.

Is this only for women?

The programme focuses on people experiencing perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause. Training also equips colleagues and managers of every gender to provide appropriate support.

Does the programme include individual medical treatment?

The standard corporate programme is educational and does not diagnose or treat individual employees. Any separate clinical service requires an agreed scope, consent, governance and confidentiality process.

Can sessions be delivered online?

Yes. Live online delivery is available in the UK and internationally. In-person delivery can be discussed according to location, group size and programme scope.

Can we book a one-off session?

Yes. A one-off session can begin the conversation. Where an organisation needs lasting implementation, manager capability and follow-up support are recommended.

Will employers receive individual health information?

No. Individual health information remains confidential. Any employer reporting must be agreed in advance and limited to appropriate, anonymised programme information.
